BUENA PARK — A 4-year-old girl was struck and killed Friday by a man suspected of drunk driving, police said.
Jasmine Vallejo was in front of her house on the 5800 block of Kingman Avenue when she ran into the street for an unknown reason shortly after 6:30 p.m., Buena Park police Sgt. Jim Dixon said. Humberto Alvarez, 38, was driving southbound on Kingman in a Cadillac and struck her, Dixon said.
Jasmine was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange, accompanied by her parents, with serious internal injuries, Dixon said.
She died about two hours later, he said.
Alvarez was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, Dixon said. It is not known how fast he was driving.
