Legislature to Blame for Business Exodus
* I hope your two Sunday commentaries “A Difficult Decision for a Booster of Los Angeles†and “Blaming the Victims†(April 3), wakes up the voting public, or at the very least, our incompetent and inept politicians in Sacramento.
I have spent many years both in law enforcement and business. I can assure you, the rapid departure of the tax-paying base to other states is the direct result of the state Legislature’s wooing the citizen looking for a “free ride†and the votes of the criminal’s families. Not to mention lining the pockets with a multitude of perks and pensions for each elected position. (I only get one pension.)
Profit is not a dirty word. Businesses create tax-paying jobs and are able to expand with profit. Stop punishing achievement.
My small business netted $5,000 last year, but my state tax alone was $6,700. This state has become a joke. Vote the bums out.
