Officials Crack Down on Investment Operation: Authorities from California and other states said they have raided 10 offices in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties that raised millions of dollars from investors led to believe they were putting money in wireless cable television ventures. Wireless cable is a technology that competes with conventional cable systems by allowing subscribers to receive service via antennas. Such systems are in operation in several cities around the country but the technology is so new that it has attracted con artists offering investments in nonexistent systems. The state Department of Corporations said it would release details of its raids during a press conference today.
