Youths Cited in BB Gun Incident on Freeway
GARDEN GROVE — Traffic was stalled briefly on the westbound Garden Grove Freeway Saturday night while police officers stopped a carload of teen-agers thought to be waving a revolver at other motorists, authorities said.
The black metal gun turned out to be a BB gun that was a replica of a .357-caliber Magnum, but a 17-year-old male was cited for misdemeanor brandishing of a firearm and the driver, another 17-year-old male, was cited for reckless driving, said Sgt. Paul Golonski of the California Highway Patrol.
An adult passenger, Danh Dao, 19, was being held at County Jail after officers discovered an outstanding $35,000 warrant for forgery in his name, Golonski said.
