WEST COVINA UNIFIED: School board appointee Steve Cox will step down after a petition drive for a special election voided his appointment. The board named Cox to fill the seat of former board member Elias Martinez, but a residents group led by Lollie Bergman gathered signatures demanding an election, which will be held June 28. Cox will run.
