American Airlines Quitting Long Beach Airport: American said it will discontinue its two daily flights between Long Beach and Dallas/Fort Worth, effective June 16. American offers no other flights out of Long Beach. Bill Morton, American’s managing director of field services said, “Despite our best efforts, our operations at Long Beach continue to be unprofitable. We’ve enjoyed being part of the community here, but the long-term survival of our company has to be foremost among our objectives.†American said 12 employees are affected by the move and will be offered employment with the carrier at other airports.
