Councilman Irv Pickler, who suffered two broken legs in a recent car crash, said Monday that he expects to be released from Western Medical Center-Santa Ana by midweek and may be at next week’s council meeting.
“My strength is coming back,” said Pickler, 72. He was injured March 26 when he his car slammed into a pole as he swerved to miss another that turned in front of him.
He said doctors say it will be at least six weeks before they allow him to walk again.
“But I’m ready to get going right now,” Pickler said.
He said he will use a wheelchair and will continue his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Garden Grove Republican Curt Pringle’s 68th Assembly District seat.
He faces Linda Kay Rigney in the June primary.
“I’m working harder on that than I was before,” Pickler said.
