Landmark Bank: Accounts of 800 customers of the Brea branch of insolvent Mechanics National Bank have been transferred to the Brea branch of Landmark Bank. Mechanics, based in Paramount, was declared insolvent Friday by federal regulators and its assets were sold to a number of banks including Landmark.
Landmark, with headquarters and one office in La Habra and branches in four other North Orange County cities, did not take on any employees of the closed Mechanics National branch. The 800 retail banking accounts increased Landmark’s deposit base by about $8 million, to a total of nearly $200 million.
