The roster for the Newport Beach Dukes, two-time Western Division champions of World TeamTennis, was set for the new season Wednesday with Zina Garrison Jackson joining the team.
Garrison Jackson, ranked 17th in the world in women’s singles, filled in during four matches for the Dukes last year. She signed with the WTT for her first full season Tuesday and was assigned to Newport Beach.
Other members of the team will be Trevor Kronemann, Kelly Jones and Larisa Neiland. Angel Lopez will be the coach, replacing Greg Patton.
Kronemann was voted the league’s most valuable player last year. Jones was ranked as the No. 1 doubles player in the world in 1992. Neiland is currently ranked third in the world in doubles.
The Dukes will be joined in the Western Division by the Phoenix Smash, led by Jimmy Connors, along with the Sacramento Capitals and the Idaho Sneakers.
The WTT season begins July 6 and runs through early August.
