LOS ANGELES : Metrolink Station Will Open at Cal State L.A.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will open a Metrolink station at Cal State Los Angeles.
The station, at the southern edge of the East Los Angeles campus, could be completed by the fall term, said university spokeswoman Carol Selkin. It is adjacent to the MTA’s bus station on the San Bernardino Freeway, near the Long Beach Freeway interchange.
The campus is on the San Bernardino line, which has stops in Pomona, Covina, Baldwin Park and El Monte. More than 2,700 students, faculty and staff members live in cities along that route, said Carmen Gachupin, the school’s employee transportation coordinator.
To get people to ride the commuter train, the school will help pay for train fares, Selkin said. Metrolink also will offer a 25% discount off the regular adult fare for Cal State L.A. students.
