Valley Companies Hit in Rash of Robberies

At least two dozen small businesses in the San Fernando Valley and nearby areas have been robbed at gunpoint since the beginning of February, and police believe the robberies are the work of one man.

So far no one has been hurt.

“He’s obviously more sophisticated and more clever than most because of the type of businesses he’s picking and he makes his getaway without anyone seeing him,†said Detective Rick Jamieson of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division, where nine of the holdups occurred.

Police described the robber as a white male between 30 and 35 with short, sandy blond hair, which he covered by wearing baseball caps of various colors. He is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds.

Most of the robberies occurred along the commercial strip of Ventura Boulevard.
