The Los Angeles Board of Fire Commissioners on Tuesday honored the director of the Sherman Oaks Burn Center for helping save the lives of five firefighters during last fall’s blazes.
“It’s extremely comforting to know that that center is there with all the most up-to-date equipment and expertise,” said Fire Commission President Beth Lowe. “They deserve our thanks.”
The commission presented Burn Center President Dr. Richard Grossman with a plaque at its regular meeting Tuesday morning at Los Angeles City Hall.
Grossman was quick to praise his staff of 53 nurses, as well as the firefighters of Southern California.
“These firefighters are out there protecting human lives every day,” he said. “It’s wonderful to be able to do something in return.”
