NHL ROUNDUP : Rangers’ Ace Beats Quebec
Peter Andersson, playing in only his fifth game all season, scored his first goal since April 2 to break a 2-2 tie and had his first assist of the season to lead the Rangers in a 5-2 victory over the Quebec Nordiques in New York.
He is usually relegated to a role with the Rangers’ Black Aces, five men who rarely play and usually watch from the upper boxes at Madison Square Garden.
“When I put the puck in, the first thing I did was to look up and point to the Black Aces,†Andersson said. “I think those guys appreciated the fact that an Ace got the game-winner.â€
Winnipeg 4, Dallas 2--The Jets stopped their NHL-high 19-game winless streak at Winnipeg, getting goals from four different players to beat the Stars.
New Jersey 3, Florida 2--Stephane Richer scored with 5:27 to play as the Devils rallied with three consecutive goals at Miami.
Buffalo 7, Ottawa 2--Rookie defenseman Philippe Boucher scored two goals as the Sabres ended a two-game losing streak at Ottawa.
