Coffee, Tea or a Nice Massage?
NEW YORK — Airline passengers who find long-distance flights a pain in the back will soon be able to get some good vibrations.
Beginning in April, Japan Airlines will offer automatic massage chairs for first-class passengers between New York and Tokyo.
Developed in cooperation with the Marutaka Co., a medical equipment manufacturer, and Kioto Kogyo, a seat manufacturer, the JAL Sky Massage seat will be installed on Boeing 747-400s that fly the 13-hour route.
The seat has three operational functions: a shiatsu, or pressure massage; a pounding massage, and a rolling massage of the neck, shoulders and lower back.
