Volunteers Sought to Staff Rape Hot Line
The East Los Angeles Rape Hotline needs bilingual volunteers to staff its 24-hour hot line and help rape victims.
A training orientation session will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Santa Marta Hospital, 319 N. Humphreys Ave.
Trainees will receive 45 hours of instruction over the next two months. Instruction will cover the social, medical and legal aspects of rape. Trainees will also receive instruction on phone techniques, intervention and advocacy skills.
Avance Human Services, which runs the hot line, will also start a support group for battered women on Thursday.
