Soka ‘University’ Really Isn’t One
* Why does The Times insist on referring to Soka as Soka University?
It has neither a faculty, curriculum nor student body that would make it a university. Because some bureaucrats recognize it as a university for tax purposes does not in fact make it a university. For that matter, Los Angeles County does not recognize them as being a certified school, much less a university. As a result, Soka is required to pay property tax.
Your Soka article of Dec. 12 had Soka University across the page in huge letters. What’s up?
