Health Club Settles Charges: Bally’s Holiday Spa Health Club has agreed to pay $138,062 to settle false-advertising charges in connection with a membership promotion, the Los Angeles district attorney’s office said. Bally’s, with 48 spas in Southern California, did not admit wrongdoing. The district attorney’s office said Bally’s had advertised a $15-a-month membership fee but did not clearly disclose that use of facilities was limited to three days a week during specific hours. In addition, Bally’s had failed to provide Spanish-speaking people with contracts in Spanish, as required by law. As part of the settlement, Bally’s has agreed to work with members to resolve complaints.
