Tracy-Kai Maier-Forsythe; Principal Dancer in S.F.Ballet
Tracy-Kai Maier-Forsythe, 32, former ballerina with the San Francisco Ballet. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., and brought up in Sacramento, where she began dancing at the age of 6, Mrs. Maier-Forsythe trained with schools of the American Ballet Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet and the San Francisco Ballet. She danced with the San Francisco company from 1980 to 1988, performing leading roles in “The Nutcracker†and “Beauty and the Beast.†She was particularly praised for her performance during the 1986-87 season in “New Sleep,†an innovative ballet by choreographer William Forsythe, who later became her husband. In 1989, she danced with the Frankfurt Ballet in Germany. On Sunday in San Francisco of cancer.
