More Volunteers Needed for Continuing Quake Aid

Faced with declining ranks of volunteers, a relief agency is asking South Bay residents to help victims of the Jan. 17 earthquake.
The Volunteerism Project, a nonprofit agency directing relief efforts in greater Los Angeles, said it still needs workers to help with the medical, psychological and housing needs of residents hit hard by the quake.
But as the aftershocks have subsided, the number of volunteers working with the agency has dwindled, spokeswoman Suzanne Lewis said.
“There’s still a tremendous need for volunteers,” Lewis said. “The crisis isn’t over.”
