Gore Vows Crackdown on Inner City Crime

WASHINGTON — Vice President Al Gore Friday announced a new federal effort to crack down on crime in inner city housing projects, turning to the Secret Service and other federal agencies to make such neighborhoods safer.
“Every citizen, including those in public housing, has a right to be safe and secure in their home and in their neighborhood,” Gore said at a White House briefing.
