BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Azusa Pacific Routs Master’s, 82-52, as Solway Gets 23 Points

Former Simi Valley High standout Shannon Solway scored 23 points and had seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot Thursday night to lead Azusa Pacific to an 82-52 rout of The Master’s in an NAIA nonconference women’s basketball game at Azusa.
Azusa (15-7) made 54% of its shots while holding the Mustangs (3-11) to 34%. Solway made 10 of her 15 shots. Connie Van Winger scored 15 points for Master’s.
GIRLS
Alemany 64, Notre Dame 31--The Indians, playing a home game on the road because their gym is damaged, romped behind Carly Funicello (16 points), Samantha Rigley (15) and Zevette Mitchell (13 and 10 rebounds). Alemany improved to 17-1, 6-0 in Mission League play.
Buena 68, San Marcos 27-- Nicole Greathouse scored 20 points and Laura Dahl added 17 for the Bulldogs (15-1, 9-0) in a Channel League game.
Newbury Park 48, Westlake 31--Julie Wastell and Jann Thorpe each scored 14 points for Newbury Park (15-4, 6-2) in a Marmonte League game.
Bell-Jeff 58, La Salle 23--Christina Ticsay had 16 points and eight assists while Cathy Flores added 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Guards (16-4, 8-1) in a Camino Real League game.
