BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Magnolia Marches Into a Three-Way Tie

Frank Henderson 21 points and LaShaun Neal added 19 as Magnolia (14-6, 4-1) helped create a three-way tie for first place in the Orange League with a 54-49 victory over Valencia Friday in boys’ basketball at Magnolia.
Magnolia improved to 14-6 and 4-1 in Orange League play, the same as Valencia and Savanna.
Junior Alatorre led Valencia (10-9) with 12 points.
Savanna 65, Anaheim 39--Forward Todd Wilson had 15 points and guard Jermaine Moore added 13 for host Savanna (10-9 overall).
Western 75, Brea-Olinda 72 (2 OT)--Neil Hensley scored 30 points, Richard Mackie had 16 and Vince Branstetter added 15 to lead Western (11-9, 2-3).
Matt Bodiford scored 30 points, and John Souza added 12 for Brea-Olinda (5-15, 1-4).
In the Academy League:
St. Margaret’s 70, St. Michael’s 18--Damian Raibon had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Brian Askew added 13 points, including three three-pointers, and Lupe Rodriguez added 11 points and seven assists to lead St. Margaret’s (13-3, 4-0) to its eighth victory in a row.
In the Express League:
Rolling Hills Prep 54, Huntington Beach Claremont 50--Jim Amorjabi scored 25 points for Rolling Hills. Steve Kimble scored 20 points for Claremont (5-6, 2-4).
In the Freeway League:
Sonora 91, La Habra 83 --Sergio Hernandez had 27 points and nine assists, and Craig Clark had 10 points and 12 rebounds for No. 10 Sonora (17-4, 4-1 in league).
Nathan Mirth also had 15 points and nine rebounds, as Sonora finished with six players in double figures. Ken Cauley had 22 points for La Habra (13-8, 2-3 in league).
Fullerton 54, Buena Park 35--Tim Vandenburg scored 11 points and Jason Ruckman and Ryan Schatz each scored seven to lead host Fullerton (10-11, 2-3).
Troy 69, Sunny Hills 59--Greg Abbott scored 26 points to lead Troy (14-7, 5-0), which made 20 of 23 free throws. Ben Nicolas scored 24 points for host Sunny Hills (8-12, 2-3).
In the Olympic League:
Cerritos Valley Christian 99, Orange Lutheran 61--Senior guard Tom Howard led Orange Lutheran with 15 points, including three three-pointers. Teammate Tony Risberg added 13 points for Orange Lutheran (1-15, 0-6). Steve DeGraaf had 19 points for Cerritos Valley Christian (6-11, 3-3).
Brethren Christian 81, Calvary Chapel 45--Reggie Davis scored 17 points and Jason Conley and Richard Mendoza added 14 each for visiting Brethren (11-6, 4-2) which moved into second place. Matt Herr led Calvary (9-11, 3-3).
