HUNTINGTON BEACH : Author to Talk on Getting Kids to Read

Jim Trelease, author of the “Read-Aloud Handbook,” will offer parents tips on getting children to choose reading over watching television during a seminar at Ada E. Clegg Elementary School.
The lecture, geared for parents, teachers and librarians, will be held Jan. 25 at 7 p.m, said event coordinator Mary Brummett.
He will discuss how reading with children can make a difference in a child’s attitudes toward books and learning, she said.
