Pedestrian Hit by Car Critically Injured

COSTA MESA — A pedestrian was critically injured Monday when he was hit by a car turning left at Commercial Way and Superior Avenue, police said.
Paul Jefferson Clark, 39, of Fountain Valley, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana after the 12:30 p.m. accident.
He was crossing the westbound lanes of Commercial Way when he was struck by a car driven by a 33-year-old Costa Mesa man who was turning from Superior Avenue, according to Lt. John FitzPatrick. Clark was hurled onto the hood of the car and then thrown onto the pavement. The driver of the car was not cited. Police are continuing to investigate.
