SANTA CLARITA — Authorities have identified the two dead men found in the rural area of Canyon Country last week as Los Angeles residents.
Robert Lee Chambers, 36, and Warren Jenkins, 31, were discovered Dec. 29 in a ravine near Soledad Canyon and Capra roads by a jogger who detected a foul odor in the area, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Irma Becerra.
Chambers had been shot in the head and both arms and stabbed in the upper body, and Jenkins had been shot and stabbed in the upper body.
Both men are believed to have been dead for several days before they were found about five miles east of Santa Clarita.
Investigators discovered a sandwich bag containing more than an ounce of rock cocaine on one body, but are unsure if the killings were drug-related. The plastic bag was concealed in the man’s underwear.
No shell casings were found at the scene, leading investigators to believe the attacks occurred elsewhere.
