* Animation: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. is establishing a new in-house animation group to develop television and film projects as part of the Santa Monica studio’s revived MGM/UA Television unit. The animation unit is expected to develop projects related to characters in the company’s film library, including the Pink Panther. Executive Vice President Don Mirisch, a former Hanna-Barbera executive, will oversee MGM Animation. Two other former Hanna-Barbera executives, Paul Sabella and Mark Young, will serve as vice presidents, along with former MCA Family Entertainment executive Kelly Ward and former DIC executive Jonathan Dern.
