FILLMORE : 2 Workers Killed in Car Fire Identified
The Ventura County coroner’s office Tuesday identified two men who burned to death when their car flipped over and burst into flames on California 126 near Fillmore over the weekend.
The victims were identified as Efraim Ramirez, 53, the driver of the car, and Ezequiel Nunez, 65, a passenger, Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate said. Both men were farm laborers from Fillmore and are survived by wives and other family members in Mexico, he said. The men were identified using X-rays and dental records.
The men were heading west on the highway late Sunday when their car careened off the road and struck an embankment before turning over and catching fire, the California Highway Patrol said.
Cause of the accident was under investigation Tuesday, CHP Officer Jerry Sawasaki said.
