Five Arrested in Botched Robbery, Hostage Incident

NEW YORK — Several people were taken hostage in a clothing store after a botched robbery, and one customer was wounded before all hostages went free, police said.
Five people were arrested in the Friday evening incident, which unfolded only a few blocks from the Times Square New Year’s Eve throngs. The police department’s negotiating team persuaded the men to surrender about two hours after the incident began.
