Even Santa Might Say This Is Asking Too Much
Dear Santa,
It’s Christmas Day and I realize you’ve already made your deliveries, but it’s been a long time since I’ve asked you for anything and I’m hoping you can help me out this year.
You see, I’ve been a Ram fan for nearly 25 years and my patience is wearing thin.
My annual investment in the Rams (season tickets) is not being rewarded (playoffs . . . Super Bowl?). However, I’m willing to hang in there as a fan if you will provide me with the following:
--Tell Georgia to sell the team to Jerry Buss.
--Move the Rams to a real football stadium--the Rose Bowl.
--Change the uniforms back to the great blue and white of the 1960s.
--Bring Mike Ditka out of retirement. (We need a coach with some fire.)
--More players with the talent, motivation and desire of Sean Gilbert and Jerome Bettis.
--A quarterback. (Any quarterback!)
--One more year out of Jackie Slater.
I know I’m asking for a lot, but I figure there are thousands of other Ram fans with a similar list. C’mon, Santa. . . . I’ll even give you several months to get it all done.

In recent years, I have had a strong preference for college football over the NFL. The reason is very simple: I am a UCLA fan (seven consecutive bowl victories, and heading for the Rose Bowl) and a Ram fan (haven’t won a championship since 1951).
Nonetheless, when the issue of moving the Rams out of L.A. is raised, I am reminded of old memories. I recall growing up on guys like Roman Gabriel, Deacon Jones and Jack Snow, with Dick Enberg doing the local broadcasts.
The Rams may never win a Super Bowl, but should this event occur, I want them to be in L.A., not Baltimore.
