COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Georgia’s Durham Gets Career Victory No. 500
Bernard Davis made all five three-pointers in a 22-0 run early in the second half that sent Georgia to a 103-55 rout of Winthrop on Tuesday night at Athens, Ga., giving Coach Hugh Durham his 500th victory.
Durham is 270-193 in 16 seasons at Georgia. He is 500-288 in 28 seasons overall, with the others at Florida State.
Davis had 18 points, making six of nine three-point attempts, for the Bulldogs (4-3). The Eagles are 1-5.
No. 5 Kentucky 86, Texas 61--Rick Pitino is finally happy with the fifth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
They gave the sixth-year coach his 100th victory at Kentucky with the victory in the opening round of the Maui Invitational at Lahaina, Hawaii.
“That is the smartest we played all season. That was the best we played all season,†Pitino said.
Jared Prickett had 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (5-1).
Reggie Freeman led the Longhorns (2-4) with 18 points.
No. 10 Purdue 74, Tennessee Chattanooga 66--Glenn Robinson scored 36 points and Cuonzo Martin added 16 as the Boilermakers won at West Lafayette, Ind.
Purdue (9-0) took the lead for good with 3:42 to play in the first half on Martin’s three-pointer that made it 34-31.
Maurio Hanson led Tennessee Chattanooga (3-2) with 21 points.
No. 18 Boston College 108, Chaminade 61--The Eagles had little trouble against the Silverswords in the opening round of the Maui Invitational, posting the most lopsided victory in the tournament’s 10-year history.
The Eagles (7-0) held Division II Chaminade (0-4) scoreless for the opening 6:55 in taking an 18-0 lead.
No. 24 Marquette 84, Louisiana Tech 48--Anthony Pieper scored nine of his 14 points during a 27-0 run that put the game out of reach at Milwaukee.
Louisiana Tech (1-4) had pulled to 16-14 after a basket by Keith Spencer with 10:13 left in the first half, but failed to score for the rest of the half to trail, 43-14.
Roney Eford scored 15 points for Marquette (6-2).

Jeff Brown scored 27 points and had nine rebounds to lead Gonzaga (5-3) to a 76-69 victory over Idaho (5-3) at Spokane, Wash. Orlando Lightfoot scored 50 of Idaho’s points, a school record. . . . Russell Larson and Randy Reid scored 24 points each to lead Brigham Young (6-2) to a 92-79 victory over Weber State (9-3) at Provo, Utah. . . . Brandon Cole scored 28 points and Tom Kleinschmidt 21, leading DePaul (6-1) to a 93-69 victory over Texas Christian (1-4) at Ft. Worth. . .Johnny Murdoch made seven of 10 three-point attempts and scored 22 points to pace Southwest Missouri (5-2) to a 65-46 victory over Fordham (2-4) at New York.
