District Attorney Settles Lawsuit Against Santa Ana Paper Recycler
- Share via
The Orange County district attorney’s office said Monday that it has settled a lawsuit against a paper-recycling company it had accused of short-weighting customers.
Paper Recovery of Orange County, based in Santa Ana, agreed to pay $18,500 without admitting guilt.
The money covers penalties, the cost of the investigation and restitution for customers.
During the investigation, the state’s Measurement Standards Division had eight loads of paper delivered to Paper Recovery, purportedly from a state hospital and a local business.
The district attorney alleged that loads were, on the average, short-weighted by 20%.
