INSURANCE : State Shuts Down Podiatrists’ Insurer
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The state Insurance Department ordered California National Physicians Insurance Co., which writes liability insurance for the podiatrists, to stop doing business in California. In the Dec. 8 cease-and-desist order, the department accused the Phoenix-based firm of operating without a license. The order also restrains two related firms that market the coverage: PRMA Inc. and Podiatric Risk Management Assn. The department set a hearing on the action for Jan. 6.
