LOS ANGELES : Hearing Impaired Get Carpooling Assistance

A rideshare organization has started a telephone service to enable hearing-impaired commuters to get information on carpooling, officials said.
Commuter Transportation Services has started a TDD rideshare phone number for use by people with hearing impairment. The number is (800) 400-4TDD.
CTS--a nonprofit company funded by Caltrans and other agencies--operates a computer system that matches up commuters with the same work schedules, enabling them to carpool. The TDD rideshare number is being started to help hearing-impaired commuters from Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.
