No-Smoking Laws

It is with disappointment that I find cities like Los Angeles, Costa Mesa and others have had the courage to introduce all no- smoking ordinances while Newport Beach and other cities still are doing nothing to protect the health of visitors and employees in their restaurants.
It is of great urgency that we act fast before the tobacco lobby dollars have influenced the California state government to preempt us from introducing our own smoking policies.
Also, I see no reason to allow smoking in bars as has been exempted in some other cities. Why should I not be able to have a beer in clean air if I choose to? I have a niece who is a bartender and why should we not protect her workplace and health as we did with the airline attendants? The long-term liability for the cities would be reduced if we introduce no-smoking in bars as well as in restaurants.
