Improving Schools
Clearly, the public is demanding improvement in the Los Angeles schools. Perhaps the best means of encouraging this is to make sure that the education Establishment has a stake in the outcome. I propose a public education improvement act for ratification on the next ballot. This act would require that administrators, teachers and other employees of the school district send their children to local public schools. This legislation will also apply to school board members and elected officials.

* NAFTA passes! School vouchers lose! U.S. workers are recognized as the “most productive work force in the world.” The American college and university system is called “world class.” Most U.S. children (90%) attend public schools. Could it be that the “failure of the public schools” has been overblown, and the voters know it?
