Area fire victims are getting a helping hand from Orange County students.
At Newport Harbor High, an encore performance of the comedy “Noises Off” and reception will be held Tuesday to benefit Robert House, a longtime biology teacher at the school who lost his home in the Laguna Beach fire. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and the play at 7:30 at the school, 15th Street and Irvine Avenue, in Newport Beach. Tickets are $15. Call (714) 760-3219 or 760-3319 for information.

At Los Alamitos High School, history teacher Jim Cross started a money collection for fire victims with students in the Interact service club. Soon the idea spread to the whole school. The goal is to raise $2,500.
