Substitute Teacher Stabs Principal in Leg

BALTIMORE — A 25-year-old substitute teacher stabbed the principal of a middle school in the leg with a butcher knife, then chased him into another office, where he tried to attack an assistant principal before a parent wrestled him to the floor, police said.
Principal G. Roger Proudfoot, 47, sustained a superficial wound in the Tuesday attack, which apparently was provoked when the school told substitute Terrance Leroy Alter that he would not be working there again.
Alter, of Woodlawn, Md., was charged with attempted murder and assault with intent to murder.
