Trio-Tech’s Earnings Dip Tied to Epoxy Shortage
- Share via
Trio-Tech International, a San Fernando maker of semiconductor testing machines, saw its earnings decline in the latest quarter because of a shortage of epoxy in the computer chip market.
In its fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 24, Trio-Tech earned $31,000, down 38% from $50,000 in profit a year earlier. Its revenue for the quarter fell 5%, to $3.92 million from $4.12 million.
Trio-Tech said the epoxy shortage meant its customers were unable to produce their normal volume of parts for it to test.
The company also said it has established a joint venture in China as part of its expansion program in the Far East.
