The Taft High girls’ tennis team advanced to the City Section team final for the sixth consecutive year Tuesday. And for the sixth consecutive year, Taft will face Palisades, taking on the Dolphins in Thursday’s 2 p.m. final.
The defending champion and top-seeded Toreadors (15-0) defeated University, 7-0, at The Racquet Centre in Studio City. Taft got straight-set victories from its top singles players. Julia Feldman, Brahna Pastorini and Ravid Levy lost only two games among them.
Feldman, a junior, beat Nicole Saul, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Pastorini, the defending section singles champion, defeated Amanda Negata, 6-0, 6-1. Levy turned back Sarah Simons, 6-0, 6-1.
In the other semifinal, unseeded Chatsworth fell, 6-1, to second-seeded Palisades, the section champion four of the past five seasons. The Chancellors’ only victory came at No. 1 singles, with Bentleith Borgeson defeating Lilian Ore, 6-1, 6-2.
Chatsworth, which upset previously unbeaten Van Nuys last week in the quarterfinals, finished 9-4.
