An off-duty L.A. County sheriff’s deputy was found shot to death in his car outside a Carson bank Monday morning. Sheriff’s officials would not say whether the death was a homicide or a suicide. “The investigators haven’t ruled anything out,” sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Bill Wehner said.
A passerby heard a gunshot about 7:40 a.m. and summoned deputies, who found the body of Deputy Peter Giron, 35, a 10-year veteran assigned to the Carson sheriff’s station, slumped in the front seat of his 1984 Volvo at a bank on Del Amo Boulevard.
Giron, an Inglewood resident, was married and had two children. His father is a sheriff’s deputy at the Lennox sheriff’s station.
