VAN NUYS : Erik Menendez Still in Hospital; Trial Stalled
- Share via
The Menendez murder trial remained stalled Monday because Erik Menendez was still hospitalized.
The younger Menendez brother was taken to County-USC Medical Center on Friday with abdominal pains, thought at first to be a result of a kidney stone. But Leslie Abramson, his attorney, said Monday that doctors discovered a blood clot. She said he bruised his kidneys in an accidental fall.
Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Stanley M. Weisberg told jurors to return Wednesday. The judge said he would spend today discussing proposed jury instructions with the lawyers.
Erik Menendez, 22, and Lyle Menendez, 25, are charged with first-degree murder in the Aug. 20, 1989, shotgun slayings of their parents, Jose Menendez, 45, and Kitty Menendez, 47.
