Ass’ad, Valdivia Earn League Soccer Honors

Cal State Northridge soccer player Armando Valdivia was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s player of the year in the Pacific Division, and Coach Marwan Ass’ad received coach of the year honors.
Valdivia, a senior forward, led the MPSF in scoring with 54 points and posted MPSF highs in goals (17) and assists (20). He and Ass’ad led the Matadors to a second-place finish in the division and their first berth in the MPSF playoffs, where they will face Air Force on Friday.
Matador defender Todd Biefeld and midfielder Matt Davis were named to the All-Federation second team. Goalkeeper Mark Macdonald, midfielder Mustapha Sesay and forward Keith West earned honorable mention.
