African-American Travel Association
A new travel association dedicated to “promoting and enhancing African-Americans in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry,†has been formed.
The African American Travel and Tourism Assn. is headed by Caletha Powell, executive director of the Greater New Orleans Black Tourism Network.
African-Americans are traveling in increasing numbers, she said, but they don’t own travel businesses and they are not involved in the hospitality industry in comparable numbers. The association is dedicated to changing that.
