13-Month-Old Boy Drowns in Back-Yard Pool
A toddler who wandered outside his parents’ Simi Valley home drowned after falling in the back-yard swimming pool, authorities said Friday.
Christopher Bryan Miltko, 13 months, was missing from the Ahart Street home of Robert and Emily Miltko between 30 and 60 minutes Thursday before the family realized that he was gone, Simi Valley Police Sgt. Bob Gardner said.
They found him and pulled him from the pool, Gardner said. Robert Miltko was administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the unconscious child when emergency personnel arrived shortly after 6 p.m.
The child, who did not regain consciousness, was pronounced dead four hours later at Simi Valley Hospital, Gardner said.
An investigation determined that Christopher crawled through an open sliding glass door to reach the back yard before falling into the unfenced pool, he said.
