Crisis Support
Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena is offering a hot line for residents needing crisis support assistance in dealing with the fire. Call (800) 443-5744 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Red Cross Aid

California Community Foundation

GTE has established two “phone bank” sites in Malibu where displaced residents can go to make free local calls. AT&T;, MCI and Sprint are also offering limited, free long-distance calls for people forced out of their homes. Phone banks are at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Yerba Buena Road and at the Malibu Community Center.
GTE is also offering, at no charge to people forced from their homes, services such as temporary call forwarding, voice mail and phone number transfers.
Pacific Bell
Pacific Bell is offering free voice mail and call forwarding to victims of the fire.

TRAFFIC
Fire forced the closures of dozens of roads, leading to huge traffic tie-ups and congestion on the major thoroughfares. Some of the roads that remain closed include:
Los Angeles County
* Angeles Crest Highway is closed from La Canada to Vincent Gap. It has also been requested that all nonessential traffic on Angeles Crest Highway be restricted to allow for emergency vehicles to assist with fires.
* Kanan Road is open to residents only from Mulholland Highway to the Pacific Coast Highway.
* Pacific Coast Highway is open to residents only from Point Dume to the Ventura County line.
* Mulholland Highway is open to residents only from Kanan Road west.
* Decker Canyon Road is open to residents only from Encinal Canyon Road to Pacific Coast Highway.
* Encinal Canyon Road is open to residents only from Decker Canyon Road to Pacific Coast Highway.
* The westbound Foothill Freeway off-ramps are closed at Michillinda, Rosemead, Santa Anita and Baldwin.
* Eastbound New York Drive will be closed at Altadena Drive.
* San Gabriel Canyon closed at the entrance.

INSURANCE
Several insurance companies have established toll-free, emergency phone lines to handle claims from fire victims. Insurance officials suggest that consumers try to contact their own agents first and use the emergency numbers only if they are unable to reach their agents. Officials also caution that the lines are meant only for consumers with fire claims, not for vendors offering services or other non-emergency calls.
