SUNSET LEAGUE : Edison Charges to Early Lead, Routs Westminster

WESTMINSTER — Edison scored the first six times it had the ball and went on to a 49-13 victory over winless Westminster in a Sunset League game Friday at Westminster High.
The Chargers (4-2, 2-1 in league) led, 21-0, at the half thanks to two Chris Young rushing touchdowns. Edison then doubled the lead with a 21-point third quarter.
Timon Jeske caught a 65-yard scoring pass from Todd Belitz with 10 minutes 40 seconds left in the third quarter to make it, 28-0.
Jeske had scored Edison’s first touchdown on a 14-yard pass from Pat Markovsky.
Edison went up, 35-0, on Jeremy Simmons’ one-yard run with 8:47 left in the quarter. Simmons scored Edison’s next touchdown as well. This one came on fourth down when he caught a six-yard pass from Belitz with 3:57 left in the quarter.
Jeske caught four passes for 110 yards and Young led Edison on the ground with 82 yards in 11 carries.
His second-quarter touchdown runs were for one and five yards. Belitz was five of six with no interceptions and 110 yards.
He also had three sacks.
Westminster (0-6, 0-3) scored fourth-quarter touchdowns on a seven-yard pass from Jerry Allison to Charlie Camerena and Mike Vit’s five-yard run.
