REAL ESTATE : Panel of Experts to Discuss Mustering El Toro Marine Base Into Civilian Life
- Share via
Prospective civilian uses for the soon-to-be vacated Marine Corps Air Station at El Toro will be the topic Tuesday when the local chapter of the Urban Land Institute sponsors a program on El Toro and Orange County’s future.
Scheduled speakers at the lengthy (5-9:30 p.m.) briefing include industrial and residential real estate developer Peter Bedford; land-use consultant Edward Lubieniecki and urban development specialist Joel Garreau.
Hosts of public television channel KCET’s “Life and Times” program will quiz the trio in what organizers call “a bold question-and-answer format to highlight the hard questions and challenges, risks and rewards afforded by the closure of El Toro.”
Tickets to the event at the Irvine Marriott hotel are $65 per person.
A spokeswoman for the Urban Land Institute said there are no plans to televise the program.
