World IN BRIEF : INDIA : Dozens Killed, Hurt in Leaps From Train

Dozens of women jumped from a burning commuter train into the path of another train bearing down on an adjoining track outside Bombay, the Press Trust of India news agency reported. At least 49 passengers were crushed to death and 70 women were injured, according to reports from the scene. The incident occurred on a “Ladies Special” train, one of a number of women-only trains created recently to make commuting safer and easier. The trains operate during rush hours on a busy suburban line.
