The Region : Food Bank Seeks Warehouse
As part of an expansion plan, the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is looking for a distribution warehouse in the central San Gabriel Valley, said Executive Director Doris Bloch.
The food bank, which feeds about 300,000 people a week, has distribution warehouses in downtown Los Angeles and Torrance. Officials are trying to rent a 10,000-square-foot space in the West Covina or Duarte area, as well as space in the San Fernando Valley. The warehouses provide donated food to charities for pickup and to individuals.
The food bank, which distributed about 35 million pounds of food last year, serves more than 100 charities in the San Gabriel Valley.
