It was Weight’s second consecutive two-goal game, following up his performance against San Jose on Wednesday.
His first goal of the night came when he stripped the puck off New York defenseman Tom Kurvers in front of the Islanders’ net. He darted into the slot and fired a quick wrist shot between the legs of goaltender Ron Hextall at 3:16 of the first period.
The Oilers established a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period when Scott Pearson and Shayne Corson each scored his first goal.
